ROCK U. FEST is our annual rock band festival concert which takes place at the end of June each year. Students aged 8 - Adult who are interested in performing in a band to play one song are eligible. It is a 4 week program that starts end of May/early June with one concert.

  • March survey sent via email will ask if students want to perform in ROCK U FEST, Spotlight Recital (for single or duo performers) or remain in lessons

  • Students who choose ROCK U FEST must be over 8 and have a certain level of experience and proficiency on their instrument

  • Those who choose ROCK U FEST and meet the age and playing requirements, will receive a Song Choice Application Survey in April via email. The link will go live at the same time for everyone so everyone has the same chance

  • Students will be given a selection of songs for their age category (8 - 11, 12 - 14, 15 - 17, Adult). The songs are connected to various rehearsal times throughout the week. Students will choose a song in their age category based upon their rehearsal availability.

  • For example the survey choices for 8-11 year olds might look something like this:

    • Eye of the Tiger (Survivor) Rehearsal Tuesday 6:00-6:30pm

    • Eye of the Tiger (Survivor) Rehearsal Saturday 10:00-10:30am

    • I Love Rock n Roll (Joan Jett) Rehearsal Monday 6:30-7:00pm

    • I Love Rock n Roll (Joan Jett) Rehearsal Thursday 4:30-5:00pm

    • Buddy Holly (Weezer) Rehearsal Wednesday 6:00-6:30pm

    • Buddy Holly (Weezer) Rehearsal Friday 7:00-7:30pm

  • Students would then pick the rehearsal time they could attend. If they really want to play Buddy Holly but can't attend the Buddy Holly rehearsal times due to other activities, they'll have to choose a different song or alter their schedule

  • Students will get to choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd song option in the application survey.

  • Students will also be asked in the application survey if they would be willing to volunteer to play or sing in other songs if musicians/vocalists are needed. There is NO charge for volunteering.

  • Students will then work on their ROCK U FEST song with their teacher for the month May to prepare for the group rehearsals

ROCK U FEST participants stop their regular lessons at the end of May and go into 30 minute group rehearsals for the song they have chosen and at the rehearsal day/time selected.
